No otheir works of art communicate the feel of the Sixties as Tadanori Yokoo's posters do. They carry the fervent air of the subcultural activities in dances and theater performances, called the "underground," that flourished in those days. This work is a poster for a dance performance by Tatsumi Hijikata. There were lively movements in innovative dance in that decade. Hijikata's dance performance, in particular, attracted extensive attention because of its uniqueness, and he remained a highly influential figure even after his death. M. Civeçawa, mentioned in the title, must be Tatsuhiko Sibusawa, who was a close friend of Hijikata. The "Sinkansen" super express train, which started operating in 1964, the year the Olympic Games were held in Tokyo, is featured like an emblem in the top part of the poster. A can of salnon, a familiar object from everyday life, is featured at the bottom, and motifs such as Hokusai's waves and the Rising Sun flag are in between. The two female figures on the bottom are copied from the Fontainebleau school painting "Gabrielle d'Estrées Bathing" "A LA MASION DE M.CIVEÇAWA" incorporates diverse elements from everyday life and art, and from the East and the West within itself, and conveys the cultural energy of the time. The artist himself seems especially attached to this work, because in 1987，after he declared to become a painter, he repainted it in oil and gave it the title "Psychic Popcorn."
