1987
Under the theme of “Tokyo,” 《Rubbish Men》 was made of garbge discharged from this big city. It includes cardboards, plants, textiles, pasteboard, paper, masking tapes, stockings, toy pistols, a neck of a guitar, cutter of a grinder, and fake pearls. People emerging in the eight panels collaging these materials are allusions of film experiments in which works of Marcel Duchamp had been deeply involved. Woks remixing various images and sounds symbolizes “Modern Tokyo” which, at the same time, is a diary-like personal expressions collaging what he has come across. It is worth to be called the artist’s culmination who was appreciated as “Sensitivity of the Generation” in the 1980s.
